Cooking is a great activity to do with your kids for a lot of reasons.  For one thing it helps them learn a valuable life skill.  It helps them contribute to the family.  And it’s just plain fun!

Cooking is a great family activity. Take a peek at these 12 recipes to make with kids and invite your little ones into the kitchen!

This Sunday (September 13th) is National Kids Take Over the Kitchen Day!  And while you may not feel comfortable letting your kids take over complete, here are some great dishes they can help with.

No Bake Energy Bites from Redefined Mom.  These little balls are jam-packed with healthy foods to give your kids energy (as if they need any more) to last all day.  And because they’re no-bake, kids of any age can help make them!  Please note: these contain nuts, so make sure you know if there are kids with allergies in your child’s class before sending them to school.

Crock Pot Tater Tot Casserole from Tamilee Tips.  I’ve already mentioned my love of the tater tot, so it should come as no surprise that this yummy, simple recipe is on my list.  Depending on your child’s age, you can brown the ground beef for them, or have them help.

Texas Toast Pizza from Crafty Morning.  I love this twist on the classic kid-friendly pizza made on english muffins!  This would be something great to leave with a babysitter, too!

Easy Chicken Taquitos from Weelicious.  Once the chicken is cooked, kids will have a great time putting together their very own taquitos.  You can also mix and match veggies and even proteins based on what your kids are eating that week!

Soft Pretzels from The Food Network.  This recipe is a bit more complex (more ingredients and steps), but it would be a great rainy day activity to do together.  Kids will love rolling out and shaping the pretzels.

Mighty Tasty Mini Lasagnas from Catching Fireflies.  This recipe takes all the complications and annoying bits out of making lasagna so all you’re left with is the flavor!  Perfect!  Mix it up and add some meat or eggplant, or just go for straight, classic lasagna.
