Unlike Thanksgiving, when I keep our decorations simple and tasteful, Christmas decorations tend to take over my house. This year was no exception. But since Mr. O and I are still (relatively) young and still growing our collection of Christmas items – and because I’m more than slightly giddy about being home for Christmas day this year – I found myself disappointed with the scale of our decor. We also spread our decorations over more space this year because we had an indoor/outdoor party, so the effect was kind of… meh.
Enter Dollar Tree! Rather than create a single craft from Dollar Tree items, I used them to fill in the holes in our decked halls.
The wreath in the middle was made by Miss O last year and it was a little lonely. I picked up the Peace and Noel signs at Dollar Tree and they were perfect companions. The ornaments across the top are also Dollar Tree (5/$1) and I just used Command Strips to stick them up.
I loved using my Command Strips so I kept going with my 5/$1 ornaments over the sink!
Our living room was lacking, so I hung these in the windows (using Command Strips, of course).
We had the candy cane from years past, but I love this glittery Merry Christmas sign.
And remember these? The candles and holders are from my November post and I just filled them with some red tinsel from Dollar Tree.
So if your home is not as alive with Christmas spirit as you’d like, I strongly suggest heading to a dollar store near you! I spent $10 to spruce up nearly every room in our house.
